Located on Kauai’s Coconut Coast, Pono Kai is a 13-acre oceanfront paradise that promises a relaxing vacation like no other. Our family-friendly resort offers a lush landscape of coconut palms, papaya and banana trees, Japanese gardens, herb and vegetable gardens, grasses, and flowers that will make your dreams of an island utopia come true.

Pono Kai Resort is located in Kapaʻa and part of the beautiful Royal Coconut Coast. The Royal Coconut Coast is aptly named, not just because of the amazing strands of large coconut trees that cover the landscape, but also because much of the area was originally reserved only for the aliʻi, or royalty in the Hawaiian kingdom.

Today, beautiful, white sandy beaches, lush green mountains and valleys, and consistently warm weather all year round attract travelers from all over the world. The Royal Coconut has become a popular visitors destination because of its central location, beauty, rich in history and culture, and variety of activities available for the whole family.

Within walking distance of Pono Kai Resort, you can explore the historic town of Kapaʻa, abundant with art galleries, boutiques, shops, and restaurants. You’ll enjoy discovering this quaint town and taste of “old Hawaii” that is off the beaten path. Be sure to stroll, jog, or ride a bike along the paved oceanfront Kapaʻa bike trail fronting the Pono Kai Resort.

This historic community, once favored by royalty, is now home to palm-lined beaches, restaurants, and shops, including those at Coconut Market Place in Kapaʻa.

Pono Kai Resort is located just 15 minutes from Lihue, Kauai’s government and commercial center. Nearby attractions include Fern Grotto and Wailua River, Opaekaa and Wailua Falls, sugar plantation villages, and a museum.
